As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing the most beautiful and heartfelt moments between couples. From intimate micro-weddings to non-traditional attire, the wedding industry is constantly evolving with exciting trends that add a touch of creativity and uniqueness to every celebration. In this blog post, I’ll dive into a few of my favorite 2023/2024 wedding trends that I love as a wedding photographer. Embracing these trends will not only elevate your engagement shoot but also infuse your wedding day with unforgettable charm and elegance. (They’re also a whole lot of fun for everyone involved!)

Wedding Photographer Favorite #1: Micro-Weddings

Micro-weddings have become a popular trend in the past few years. Whether it be the couple and their families or the couple with only the closest friends and family. These small-scale celebrations allow couples to share meaningful moments with their loved ones in an intimate and warm atmosphere. As a wedding photographer, I adore micro-weddings because they provide ample opportunities to capture authentic emotions and candid interactions between the couple and their guests.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #2: Unique Wedding Details

Adding personal and unique touches to your wedding day decor is a trend that never goes out of style. And it’s one of my personal favorite parts of wedding photography! I love how these little details tell the story of the couple, their families, and their values. In recent years, couples are infusing their celebrations with details that reflect their love story and individuality. From custom signage and monograms to thematic decorations and unique favors, these thoughtful details make your wedding truly one-of-a-kind.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #3: Non-Traditional Attire

Gone are the days of rigid dress codes for weddings. Which I personally love! It’s so much fun to photograph everyones personality and to see it shine through in the finished product. Recently, couples have been embracing non-traditional attire–expressing their style and personality through their wedding outfits. Some of my favorites have been jumpsuits, colored dresses, tailored suits and separates. It seems like there are no boundaries when it comes to wedding fashion choices. As a wedding photographer, nothing is cooler than the reaction from a couple seeing their personalities shining through on their big day.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #4: Photobooths

I love photobooths! They’re such a fun detail that everyone seems to enjoy. Additionally, you can get some great photos that’ll bring memories for a lifetime. In the past few years, photobooths have become a fun and interactive element at weddings. These whimsical setups allow guests to take candid and lighthearted photos, creating lasting memories of your special day. From quirky props to personalized backdrops, photobooths add an element of entertainment and excitement to the celebrations.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #5: Unplugged Ceremonies

With the prevalence of smartphones and social media, many couples are opting for unplugged ceremonies. Encouraging guests to be fully present and experience the moment without distractions allows for a more intimate and heartfelt ceremony. As a wedding photographer, I wholeheartedly support unplugged ceremonies. Although guests mean well, they can unobstructed views and genuine expressions, creating beautiful and emotive photographs. While there is a time a place for smartphone photography at a wedding, I love when couples make it a point to allow the wedding photographer and their team to shoot the ceremony.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #6: Pets at Weddings

A few years ago having pets at your wedding would be unheard of. But in the past decade, it’s become a popular wedding trend. Personally, as a wedding photographer, I fully support pets at weddings and in wedding photos. They truly make for an adorable addition. For many couples, pets are cherished members of the family, and having them present on the big day adds an extra layer of joy and love.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #7: Champagne Towers

One of the most timeless traditions that I’m glad to see regaining popularity is the infamous champagne tower. As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I cannot express enough how glamorous this celebratory element is in wedding photos. These elegant displays of champagne glasses are a long-held symbol of luxury and festivity. As a photographer, my favorite shots are of the couple’s excitement as the towers are poured, creating visually stunning images that exude sophistication.

Wedding Photographer Favorite #8: Garden Weddings

As an Atlanta Based Wedding Photographer, garden weddings are my favorite. They have a timeless appeal, offering a romantic and picturesque setting for couples to exchange vows. Nothing is more sweet than being surrounded by lush greenery and blooming flowers. The gardens provide a naturally beautiful backdrop for your special day. As a wedding photographer, truly nothing is more magical than watching a bride and groom react to the fairytale experience of a garden wedding.

I have the pleasure of witnessing and capturing beautiful moments that showcase the love and individuality of each couple. Trends are such fun ways to incorporate personality into your big day and as a photographer, it’s fun to see how the times change, and how couples choose to celebrate their big day.
